On Painting Flowers At Night
Why the Nocturne series exists — and what happens to color when the sun is finally out of the room.

For two years I only painted after dark. What began as a scheduling accident became the entire Nocturnes series. Color behaves differently when the room is quiet. Reds move toward black; violets carry weight. The gold leaf I use is not decoration — it is the only light left.
